Starrag’s Heckert HEC 500D U5 MT HMC features swivel head
With a NC swivel head providing a fifth axis, the Heckert HEC 500D U5 MT horizontal machining centre from Starrag UK can provide single set-up production embracing turning, as well as milling and drilling.
The machine is said to provide accurate machining, thanks to its thermo-symmetrical design, as well as minimised operating costs via efficient drive, hydraulic, pneumatic, cooling and control systems.
With X, Y, Z traverses of 750 by 700 by 725 mm, and traverse rates of 65 m/min, the HEC 500D U5 MT can accommodate loads of 600 kg (500 kg when turning) and can be supplied with a range of spindle motors, from a 37 kW/350 Nm torque version up to a 50 kW unit.
The head can be positioned to an accuracy of 6 arc/sec within the -15° to 195° swivel range to provide contouring in conjunction with the 900 rpm NC rotary table.
