Heckert HEC 800 X5 MT conducts turning within 5-axis machine sequence

The Heckert HEC 800 X5 MT addition to the HEC range of horizontal machining centres is a 5-axis machine designed for the high accuracy and super-fast single set-up production of parts requiring turning and milling operations.

Available from Starrag UK, the Heckert HEC 800 X5 MT is capable of handling workpieces up to 1,200 kg and of consistent seven microns machining accuracy in five-sided/3+2-axis/full 5-axis contouring applications. It features a rapid traversing/rotating table (500 rpm for turning) combined with highly accurate table swivelling axes of +91° to -45° and a rotary axis of 0° to 360° (reversal error in A-axis of just four sec-arc and only 3 sec-arc in B); and XYZ axes rapid feeds of up to 60 m/min with acceleration of 7 m/sec2. The 800 by 800 mm pallet size machine is able to finish machine complex workpieces in a single set-up by embracing turning operations within the same highly dynamic 5-axis machining sequence. This also eliminates potentially error-prone secondary set-ups and operations, points out Starrag. The machine can be supplied with either Fanuc or Siemens CNC. It can deploy 60 to 320 tools of up to 500 mm diameter by 800 mm long, depending on the magazine.
