Iscar MM SS22M-4T08 milling heads feature Multi-Master connections

Iscar has introduced interchangeable solid carbide milling heads that have Multi-Master threaded connections for milling spline shafts according to the DIN 5480 involute gear profile.

The newly developed involute profile milling heads are able to replace hobbing operations that are undertaken on dedicated hobbing machines, says Iscar. Instead, the heads can be used on CNC multi-tasking machines or machining centres with the use of a rotary table.

According to Iscar, the MM SS22M-4T08 milling heads enable the completion of a spline shaft in just one set-up, resulting in time savings. To achieve best results, the workpiece should be clamped securely; the MM SS22M-4T08 milling heads used with a short shank and minimal possible overhang.

When used for precision dimensional or surface finish applications, it is recommended that a rough machining pass is followed by a finishing cut.
