DMG and Mori Seiki offer the real deal NX4000 HMC at the right price

DMG and Mori Seiki believe the Germany-built travelling-column NHX4000 horizontal machining centre – now available with MAPPS IV control panel – offers precision and productivity at a price calculated to appeal to the market (€194,900).

Occupying 12.5 m2 of floor space, the NX4000's 400 by 400 mm pallets take workpieces up to 630 mm dia by 900 mm high weighing up to 400 kg. Traverses in XYZ are 560 by 560 by 660 mm respectively. Circular accuracy, quoted as less than 1.7 µm (with 2,000 mm/min feed in X and Y as well as 100 mm radius), is combined with linear axes travel up 60 m/min with acceleration up to 9 m/s2 . Spindle speed in the standard version is up to 12,000 rpm with 110 Nm torque, while an optional high tech module provides a 30 kW, 8,000 rpm spindle. The standard version 40 pocket capacity ring magazine can be optionally extended to 60 pockets. The toolchanger offers a chip-to-chip time of 2.8 sec. Pallet changing takes 8 sec. Operating costs of the NHX4000 are said to be lower than those of predecessor models with energy demand decreased by up to 50%. This is due to the small number of servo motors and the use of LED illumination. The hydraulic pressure pump is automatically stopped in standby mode.
