DMG DMC 60 H offers fast up-to-5-axis precision and production flexibility

DMG intends its DMC 60 H linear horizontal machining centre to tick all the boxes for fast up to 5-axis precision machining centres for serial production and, with the system's modularity, configurations adapted to suit a wide range of applications.

Specific boasts include a positioning accuracy of less than 4 µm and a repeat accuracy of less than 6 µm, acceleration values of 1 g and extreme speeds of up to 100 m/m, thanks to linear motor drives, and 2.2 sec chip-to-chip tool change. By optimising ergonomics, the floor space required for the standard version DMC 60 H with pallet changer is 11.9 m2. It can accommodate a maximum workpiece size of 800 mm diameter by 1,030 mm and up to a maximum 600 kg weight.The travelling column provides XYZ traverses of 630, 800 and 850 mm. All axes have linear drives which are covered by a 60-month warranty. (Power train versions also available.) DMG/Mori Seiki have given the standard model a 20 kW air/oil lubricated main spindle capable of up to 12,000 rpm and a torque of 110 Nm. An 18,000 rpm spindle option has 34 kW and 110 Nm available. Where torque is the priority for heavy machining there is also a 10,000 rpm, 46 kW spindle providing 200 Nm. The basic DMC 60 H is equipped with a 63 tool compact rotary magazine that can be extended by four more rings with an additional 60 pockets. Provisioning times even for a large number of tools are quoted as from 3.4 up to 5.6 sec, with chip-to-chip times of 2.2 sec. New tools can be inserted into the magazine with the tool changer active – parallel primary time and auxiliary time tooling. Cone cleaning and broken tool detection can be carried out parallel to primary processing time. Steep and vertical covers ensure unhindered chip fall through the machine bed. A spiral conveyor in the centre of the machine transports chips to the back for connection to central chip removal.
