Haas Automation will offer cutting demonstrations on the company's latest CNC machine tools, including: high-speed vertical machining centres; 50 taper, high powered machines designed to make big cuts; high productivity turning centres with live-tooling and dual-spindles; powerful, small-footprint drill-tap and toolroom machines; and specialist vertical machining centres for toolmakers (Stand 5428, Hall 5).
Amongst these, there'll be the Haas VF-2SS, with 5-axis trunnion, making complex cuts. This was one of the most popular Haas vertical mills last year, boasting sales averaging 5 a day. Haas Automation Inc, the largest CNC machine tool manufacturer in the world by volume, installed over 1,400 VF-2s in 2013 alone.
Making its debut at MACH will be the new 2014 VF-3YT for those requiring big cuts on a compact machine having extended Y-axis. The 50-taper machine will be showing off its 1,016 by 660 by 635 mm work envelope, while other verticals on show will include Mini-Mills and Toolroom Mills.
Another first showing will be the established and popular ST-10Y lathe. With a small footprint and Y-axis capability, this has become the fastest selling Haas Y-axis lathe. For bigger parts and larger cuts, the ST-30 CNC lathe will be underlining the benefits of its gearbox. Other lathes including the Toolroom Lathe will also be cutting metal.
Haas Automation Ltd managing director Nick Remington explains what's behind Haas Automation's impressive growth in the UK: "It's no secret that Haas is doing remarkably well in the UK. There are some notable reasons that immediately spring to mind.
"Firstly, over the past few years, we have introduced several, new, affordable, high productivity machines, which our customers have told us they need, in order to remain competitive. Many of our new and improved products will be on display, cutting metal on the Haas stand at MACH 2014.
"Secondly, we continue to focus our attention on further improving our award-winning service and support. As our customer base increases, so does the number of factory-trained service engineers we employ. With 35 engineers strategically based around the UK, we boast the largest and fastest response service department in the industry. Our first visit fix rate is 94.6%.
"Haas growth is based on designing and building machines that offer greater value and provide unrivalled productivity and peace-of-mind for our customers. As well as selling more machines (over 1,000 every month in 2013) and increasing our market share, we're also selling higher value machines; machines with features our customers use to make better parts, more quickly.
"Haas has been very active in changing the face of the machine tool industry. Haas build quality is uncompromised, reliability is built-in, our service and support is consistently excellent and spare part prices are keenly priced. We believe these are things all customers should expect when they invest in their businesses, their livelihoods and their futures. This is why Haas machines are the intelligent choice for companies seeking the best combination of value, reliability, accuracy and productivity and, most importantly, back-up."
