Ward CNC extends Hyundai-Wia lathes offering

Two turning centres at either end of the capacity range have expanded the Hyundai-Wia lathes portfolio available from UK distributor T W Ward CNC.

The Hyundai-Wia L800LMA, capable of handling 240 mm diameter bar for medium/large workpieces, is suitable for highly accurate intermittent and heavy-duty cutting applications. It is equipped with a 45/37 kW, 700 rpm spindle with 18 ton clamping power and has maximum turning diameter and length of 920 mm and 3,250 mm respectively. Swing over the bed is 1,050 mm. Axis feedrates are 12 m/min in X (500 mm travel) and Z (3,280 mm travel), and 14 rpm in the 360º C-axis. Milling tools can be driven at 3,000 rpm. The machine's 12-station tool turret can index at 0.4 sec/step. Fanuc CNC (32i or i Series) is standard. At the other end of the scale – though not the smallest Hyundai-Wia turning centre available – is the L160MA turning centre which can accommodate 45 mm diameter bar, has a 11/7.5 kW, 6,000 rpm main spindle, plus a maximum turning diameter and length of 310 and 550 mm respectively. Swing over the bed is 600 mm. Axis feedrates are 36 m/min in X (220 mm travel) and Z (560 mm travel), and 200 rpm in the 360º C axis. Milling tools can be driven at 5,000 rpm and the 12-station tool turret can index at 0.2 sec. Fanuc i Series CNC is standard.
