Taylor Hobson’s Talyrond 500H suits multi-task surface measurement

Taylor Hobson, a unit of Ametek, has released its Talyrond 500H which tackles the surface measurement of roundness, profile and finish on a single platform. It features a high speed column drive, precision positioning and a 4 mm roundness and contour gauge.

The company says it is well suited to high accuracy measuring applications such as bearings, fuel injectors, crankshafts and turbocharger parts. The device duplicates a machine tool's movements and reproduces workpiece shape to provide users with rapid feedback for efficient quality assurance. A low noise metrology frame, accurate axis alignment and a patented data collection method provide it with high straightness and roundness measurement capabilities. A high resolution gauge measures linear or circumferential surface roughness, while a frictionless air-bearing spindle and precision column measure roundness, cylindricity and straightness. Furthermore, a patented calibration technique performs radius, angle, height, length and distance measurements.
