StereoScan from Measurement Solutions offers automated production scanning
Manufacturers tasked with inspecting big components to high levels of accuracy and reliability in everyday production can now benefit from the Breuckmann StereoScan from Aicon 3D Systems. Available in the UK from Measurement Solutions, this white light scanner performs such operations automatically in conjunction with a robot. The Breuckmann StereoScan is even said to capture minimal deviations in the most delicate structures with accuracy of less than 0.1 mm.
In contrast to a CMM, which touches single points, the white light scanner captures the entire surface of the component. The result is a significantly higher density of information. Users get an exact 3D image of the object being measured, with a colour map showing any deviations from CAD data.
The system, which features two 16 megapixel cameras, is characterised by detail resolution and accuracy previously only associated with CMMs, says Aicon.
