Standard system for automated loading of CNC lathes and machining centres

Turn-Assist and Mill-Assist, available from Hydrafeed, support automated loading of CNC lathes and machining centres.

Turn-Assist can be used on all brands of CNC turning machines, existing and new, and requires no specific robot knowledge for operation. Most importantly, it can be set up in less than five minutes, with the accompanying Robojob software even proposing the type of gripper or gripper fingers that should be used.

With Turn-Assist's Fanuc robot set up in an inclined position, the machine opening remains fully accessible to the operator, as does the swarf tray.

The system uses a patented servo-operated stacking table that optimises space for varying workpiece sizes. No matter what the dimensions of the part (23 to 180 mm diameter), they fit on the stacking table.

Mill-Assist similarly can be used with any machine and, offered in 'front set-up' or a 'side set-up', also leaves the machine free for operator access. For 'front set-up', security based on a peripheral scanner can replace fencing, while for 'side set-up', users can choose either a transparent screen having sliding doors or an open entrance guard supported by a light curtain.

The machining centre system employs a cube gripper concept that allows various types of grippers to be attached fast - the concept is suitable for both adjustable clamp and vacuum grippers, so all types of components can be gripped.

Similar to Turn-Assist, Mill-Assist employs a configurable and patented input and reception plate. This plate is suitable for small- and medium-sized parts from 23 up to 450 mm diameter.
