SIC Marking launches XL Box as flagship laser marking workstation

SIC Marking's XL Box laser marking workstation is positioned as flagship of the company's range. It is equipped with a fibre laser source doped with Ytterbium which allows light or deep markings on all metals and some plastics. High contrast alphanumeric and 2D Data Matrix codes and barcodes markings can be produced in some hundredths of a second that are both human-readable or verifiable by a camera.

XL Box is operated through a laptop connected via USB port using the included SIC Laser PC software that runs in a Windows environment. The software has a user-friendly interface offering multiple solutions to configuring marking for identification and traceability purposes. The workstation allows users to comfortably load and unload parts for marking purposes. Internal dimensions provide a 550 by 550 mm work area for an overall width of 653 mm. Large parts (up to 370 mm tall) can be marked using a T-slot table with threaded holes to facilitate part support fixturing. A pneumatically-powered door closes automatically when a marking cycle is launched and opens by itself at the end of cycle. Z-axis settings are intuitive, thanks to the workstation's 235 mm motorised axis system. Two red pointers assist easy focusing. The laser is safe for the operator in accordance with Class 1 EN 60825-1. Options available include rotary D axis, Z axis operated by software and swing plate.
