Shoulder milling cutter

Walter GB has expanded its Xtra.tec F4042R ('reinforced') shoulder milling cutter range to 63 mm diameter and made it available with the ScrewFit connection, for rigid machining, as well as with a DIN 138 bore adaptor. The range was previously only available in diameters of 16, 20, 25 and 32 mm.

With these enhancements – coupled with the use of Tiger.tec inserts (for steel and cast iron) and PVD Tiger.tec grades for high-alloy steels, stainless and exotic materials - F4042R now covers many more applications, excelling in difficult-to-machine materials, such as high-alloy stainless steels. The modular ScrewFit adaptation system, which matches every popular machine spindle type (including SK, HSK and Capto), is easy and quick to use: an open-end wrench is all that is needed to clamp the tool. If damage occurs, only the screw head needs to be changed. Xtra.tec F4042R can be supplied with, for example, clamping extensions for deep machining, as well as with short, extremely rigid clamping, while the indexable insert type ADMT 10T3 is designed for 10 mm depths of cut and, with its 90° approach angle, promotes 'smooth' machining. Tiger.tec inserts regularly achieve up to 100 per cent more components per edge than competitor products, and in some cases double productivity output, due to their improved process reliability courtesy of a high resistance to flank wear, cratering and thermal cracking.
