Seco MS2050 milling grades optimised for titanium

Seco Tools has increased the versatility of its MS2050 milling grade with options designed for manufacturers machining parts from titanium and high chromium content steels. The latest additions encompass a scope of insert sizes, radii and geometries along with a special coating technology for machining titanium.

The grades’ silver-coloured PVD coating has improved heat-resistant capabilities and virtually eliminates the occurrence of built-up edge (BUE) when cutting ‘sticky’ titanium, says Seco. Furthermore, because the creation of BUE is eliminated, inserts have approximately 50% longer life, helping manufacturers reduce tool costs.

MS2050 grades are suitable for use with Seco’s Turbo 10, Helical T4-08 and Highfeed cutting tools, and are available in a range of different radii (from 0.4 to 6.3 mm). They also come with positive geometries, enabling them to be used in shoulder, face, copy and high feed milling operations.
