Titanium milling productivity boosted by Seco MS2050 grade

Seco's latest MS2050 milling insert grade incorporates a newly developed coating technique and substrate that is said to deliver improved process reliability and the ability to use higher cutting data when machining titanium alloy materials in stable conditions.

MS2050 offers the combination of a special PVD coating (NbN – niobium nitride) which has been designed to avoid chemical reactions, and a substrate giving increased toughness. According to Seco, this increases the insert's wear resistance and the ability to withstand mechanical loads created in the cutting zone. The result is high productivity, reduced cycle times and improved tool life, all of which help reduce cost-per-part. MS2050 is available in arrange of positive geometries for square shoulder milling, copy milling and high feed milling operations.
