Seco introduces TH1000 and TH1500 grades for difficult-to-machine materials

The TH1000 and TH1500 high wear-resistant insert grades launched by Seco Tools (UK) have been engineered to improve productivity and performance when machining superalloy and hardened steel.

TH1000 is a high performance TiSiN-TiAIN nanolaminate PVD-coated grade suitable for cutting hard materials. It provides users with a reliable, tough and low wear solution even during heavy duty interrupted machining. Its high resilience resists edge fracture and well-adapted chipbreakers optimise chip control, says Seco. Designed for high material removal, TH1500 benefits from Seco's hard Duratomic coating. Its wear resistance helps improve productivity during continuous cutting operations of moderately hardened steel components (HRc 40-55). Furthermore, TH1500 offers superior wear resistance when fine finishing cast irons and as such complements the company's dedicated cast iron grades, TK1001 and TK2001.
