Seco aims TK1001 and TK2001 turning duo at cast iron

Seco Tools Duratomic-coated carbide TK1001 and TK2001 turning inserts are aimed at demanding cast iron machining, and hard and abrasive alloy machining. Both grades, says Seco, demonstrate their reliability particularly where the material quality of the casting batches varies.

The Duratomic coated tungsten carbide grade of TK1001 is designed for achieve the highest productivity. The coating not only improves edge line integrity and embodies high levels of deformation and heat resistance, says Seco, but also provides a high level of wear and abrasion resistance. Seco recommends it for customers looking for long and reliable tool life under stable conditions, especially in grey cast iron. TK2001 is indicated for challenging machining conditions that require high durability and extreme stability of the cutting edges. Not least, but also because of the Duratomic technology, says Seco, TK2001 is able to achieve peak performance with regard to flank wear even under unstable or interrupted cuts conditions. It is recommended for ductile cast iron, especially when targeting long, predictable tool life and a wide working window.
