Schaublin Machines develops 142 7AX-Y-CP CNC lathes for production and small batch machining

The Schaublin Machines' 142 7AX-Y-CP is part of the modular 142 series range that includes several models with between 2 and 7 linear axes to meet the specific needs of the end user. The 142 7AX-Y-CP compact and rigid turning centre has an A2-5 spindle nose enabling a maximum chucking diameter of 180 mm with a spindle throughbore of 42 mm for bar working.

The Schaublin 142 7AX-Y-CP can work with bars or billets with robot loading. With optional twin spindles and twin motorised turrets each with 12 x 12 live tools, it is possible to work on both sides of the part simultaneously. The 23 kW main and 23 kW counter-spindle simplify the transition between front and back-end working. This latest addition to the Schaublin range supports machining accuracy with a cooling system using glycol water that passes through 17 areas of the machine as well as the main base. This ensures that every part of the machine works at the same temperature to avoid any non-mastered dilatation effect. The turret has been designed to be as small and compact as possible to improve the mounting of live tooling that can operate at up to 12,000 rpm on every position. Working in a compact envelope with a large number of tools requires exceptional chip removal. The 142 series enables cutting fluid to be directed precisely to the cutting edge at up to an optional 60 bar pressure. This efficiently evacuates swarf from the work envelope. As it guarantees the exact position of the pre-set tools, Schaublin Machines has developed its own tool setting system in conjunction with its partner Sauter Feinmechanik. This allows the customer to quickly change tools while obtaining Schaublin accuracy levels. The 142 Series incorporates a 3D anti-collision system that enables the turret to work in close proximity at high speed with axis feedrates of up to 40 m/min. A variety of complementary devices and peripherals allow the 142 series of modular turning centres to be rapidly adapted to specific applications whether for high production runs or small batches with frequent changeovers.
