Schaublin 136 7AX-Y mill-turn cuts tool setting times

The Schaublin 136 7AX-Y is suitable for small batch, prototype or production machining and is part of a modular range that includes several models with between 2 and 4 linear axes.

The 136 7AX-Y is a compact and rigid turning centre for bars or billet with a A2-4 spindle nose enabling a maximum chucking diameter of 140 mm with a through bore of 36 mm for bar working. With twin spindles and a motorised turret with up to 24 live tools, it is possible to work on both sides of a part simultaneously. The main and counter-spindle are identical and this simplifies the transition between front and back-end working. The 136 7AX-Y's cooling system uses glycol water that passes through 12 areas of the machine as well as the main base. This ensures every part of the machine works at the same temperature to avoid any non-mastered dilatation effect that can affect precision. Schaublin Machines has recognised that tool pre-setting can minimise downtime and improve productivity. With this in mind, it has developed a tool setting system in conjunction with its partner Sauter Feinmechanik. This guarantees the exact position of the pre-set tools and allows the user to quickly change tools while maintaining Schaublin levels of accuracy. The turning centre incorporates a 3D anti-collision system that enables the turret to work in close proximity which means the operator can confidently maintain high feed and speed rates.
