Rainford offers 65 HRc capability Union Tools HRRS end mills

Distributor Rainford Precision is offering the HRRS four flute corner radius end mill for the high performance precision machining of extremely hard and abrasive materials. The HRRS, developed by Japanese manufacturer Union Tool, is complemented by the HLRS series for long reach applications.
The Union Tool HRRS series is available in diameters from 2 to 12 mm with corner radii ranging from 0.3 to 4 mm, depending upon diameter selected. With unequal tooth spacing, the HRRS promotes rapid material removal rates when rough machining hard materials.
However, the HRRS series' performance on materials up to 65 HRc hardness, is also attributed to novel geometry that incorporates a specially designed seamless corner radius. This is supported by an optimal flute length and shank design that enforce rigidity and eliminate chatter when conducting large pitch milling operations.
Benefits of the combination are extended tool life, improved surface finish and productivity, and less stress upon the machine spindle.
The HRRS also benefits from Union Tools' Hard Max coating technology and a shank tolerance of +0/-0.005. This exceptionally precise shank is matched by a corner radius tolerance of ±0.015 mm.
HLRS long reach end mills are available in diameters from 0.4 to 6 mm in increments of 0.1 to 1 mm diameter and 0.5 mm increments to 3 mm with corner radius ranging from R0.05 to R1.0 mm for the selected diameters. Like the HRRS, this smaller series is applicable to a variety of material types, yet most suited to hard materials. Also coated with Union Tools' HardMax coating technology, the HLRS is suited to the machining of carbon and alloy steels, pre-hardened and hardened steels, cast iron and copper.
