Nakamura-Tome NTRX 300 turn-mill from ETG suits complex parts

With twin-opposed spindles, a spindle housing with swiveling B-axis (maximum 225º rotation - 120º towards the main spindle and 105º towards the counter-spindle), 4,500 rpm, 15kW main and counter-spindles, and 18.5 kW tool spindle offering 8,000 rpm (12,000 rpm optional), the NTRX 300 5-axis simultaneous turn-mill centre from Nakamura-Tome is a heavy duty multi-tasking unit offering complex, high value component machining capability in a single set-up.

Available in the UK from the Engineering Technology Group (ETG), maximum workpiece turning diameter is 640 mm diameter, turning length is 1,150 mm and distance between spindle centres is 1,350 mm.

Standard bar capacity is 65 mm, with options of 71, 80 and 90 mm diameter available (22 kW spindle power is available for larger bar capacity versions).

With the spindle inclined 90º, the tool spindle centre line can travel 125 mm below spindle centre line, via X-axis vertical movement of the spindle head. Y-axis travel is +/- 125 mm travel, considerably greater than many other machines in its class, says ETG.

In twin spindle configuration the both spindles offer 4,500rpm with 15kW powerful motors and up to 30kW cutting power can be available for turning shaft work with the synchronised spindles.High powered versions are also available for larger bar capacity versions at 22kW.

The NTRX 300 also features a unique in-built load/unload device and a 40-tool Capto C6 ATC as standard (60, 80, 120 optionally).
