Milling cutter has high performance; long life
The new Prototyp Protostar AL 45 milling cutter from Walter GB is designed for high-productivity performance and long tool life in ISO-N materials, such as aluminium and copper.
Its three edges – compared with the widespread use of two-edged alternatives for such applications –allow feed rates up to 50 per cent higher than usual.
The Prototyp AL 45 features a CRN multi-layer ‘Rainbow’ coating that minimises the formation of built-up edges, and generates excellent surface finishes, high dimensional accuracy and long tool life.
A 45° spiral flute minimises cutting forces and ensures good chip evacuation, with low vibration and no chatter.
With corner radii, the new cutter can be applied to a wide range of milling tasks – slot, pocket, side, inclined and circular interpolation – and is available in diameters from 1 mm to 25 mm.
