Iwata GP from Rainford suits high speed micro-drilling

The Iwata Tool 'Great Performance' (GP) micro-drill, which is now available in the UK from Rainford Precision, can drill at feed rates that exceed 4 m/min on materials that include anything from mild, carbon, alloy and stainless steels, through to ductile and cast irons, titanium and aluminium alloys. Iwata attributes the GP's high speed performance to its dual point angle (140° and 100°).

Manufactured from a microscopic carbide grain substrate, the GP drill incorporates Iwata Tool's ultra-thin ALT coating, which is said to make it resist high levels of heat, wear and oxidation. GP Drills come in diameters from 0.3 to 1 mm in 0.01 mm increments, and from 1 to 3 mm in 0.05 mm increments. The series is available with either 5xD or 10xD flute lengths for drilling to a depth of 36 mm.
