The tools’ clamping system allows insert indexing from either side of the tool via a supplied key, without removing the tool from the machine. PWLNL X-04S and PDJNR/S were designed specifically for Swiss-type automatics and small CNC machines. The external boring bars are said to be suitable for machining complex, precision parts with length-to-diameter ratios that are subject to deflection in the turning process.
Iscar says that the tools will make the double-sided WNGP 0403 and DNGP 0703 inserts even more cost-effective, as they can also be used for external turning.
