Iscar Penta 34 inserts keep cool under pressure

Iscar has applied the coolant channel option to tools intended for use with the company’s Penta 34 inserts; for standard (6-10 bar) and high pressure (up to 340 bar) coolant. The newly developed PCHR/L-34-JHP tools are available with 16, 20 and 25 mm shanks, extending their grooving depth capability to 10 mm.

When used with Penta 34 inserts, the company’s PCHR/L-34-JHP tools help to reduce, or even eliminate, built-up edge, especially when machining stainless steel and high temperature alloys, Iscar says. The tools are said to deliver removal rates up to three times greater than conventional flood coolant systems, while increasing tool life by up to 100%.

As the coolant stream is not interrupted by the chips, as occurs with external flushing coolant, early users report the elimination of chip jamming, much faster cutting and significantly longer edge life when performing outer and inner diameter turning, grooving and parting.
