Heckert HEC 630 X5 Athletic focuses on one set-up prismatic machining and energy efficiency

The HEC 630 X5 Athletic horizontal 5-axis machining centre from Starrag Group company Heckert is capable of prismatic machining workpieces with an edge length of up to 1,200 mm and a weight of up to 1,000 kg in one clamping operation.

Absolute direct position measuring systems ensure a high positional precision and repeat accuracy during serial operation. The electronically controlled rotary and pivoting unit can machine inclined surfaces and holes without axis interpolation. The direct-driven B axis operates within a range of 0 to 360º at a maximum rotational speed of 70 rpm and a clamping torque of 8,000 Nm. The A axis, which is supported and clamped on both sides, is characterised by its high stiffness and stability. It pivots in the range of -45/+91º at a maximum speed of 15 rpm. The rotary and pivoting unit complies with high safety requirements (among others) clamping of the rotational axis by a hydraulic safety circuit). In the case of power failure or supply interruption, the axes shut down in a controlled way by using the existing residual energy. This prevents damage to machines, tools and workpieces. The Athletic 500 and 800 machining centres can also be equipped with the rotary and pivoting unit. In the interests of energy-efficient operation, the HEC 630 X5 Athletic's designers placed emphasis on, among other things, energy recovery from motor braking, the use of the warm-up program, accumulator charging unit in the machine hydraulics, energy-neutral weight compensation of the support assembly groups and on class IE 2 energy saving motors.
