Haas launches 2014 Super Speed VMC range
The 2014 version of the Haas VF-SS range of 'Super Speed' vertical machining centres comes as standard with many newly developed features.
Most notably, the 30 hp inline direct drive spindle is capable of running at 12,000 rpm. The absence of conventional belts results in smoother transmission of power, reduced heat and less noise, says Haas, with superior surface finishes, extreme thermal stability and quiet operation the rewards.
For 2014, a 24+1 side-mount toolchanger has also been constructed using lighter materials, while a high performance servomotor achieves tool-to-tool changes in less than 1.6 seconds. High pitch ballscrews and high torque servo motors provide rapids of 35 m/min.
Around 20,000 SS machines are already cutting metal around the world. Haas sales figures confirm that at least one SS machine is purchased every hour of every working day.
