The Super Speed VF-2SS is a high-performance vertical machining centres that come standard with an innovative 12,000 rpm in-ine direct-drive spindle, an ultra-fast tool changer and 35m/min rapids. Based on the shop-proven HAAS VF-2 platform, the new ‘Super Speed’ is equipped with a 12,000-rpm, 40-taper spindle that features a unique in-line, direct-drive system that couples the motor directly to the spindle rather than using belts. This results in smoother transmission of power, less heat and less noise than other drive systems, providing better surface finishes, extreme thermal stability and very quiet operation. Powered by a 30-hp vector drive system, the spindle yields 87 per cent more torque, 40 per cent faster rapid traverse and 59 per cent more power than a standard 10,000 rpm drive, as well as the speed necessary for high-speed machining operations The Super Speed VF-2 has travels of 762 by 406 by 508 mm (x,y,z) and features a newly designed high-speed side-mount tool changer with 24+1 tools.
