Kennametal KY1320 is a competitive ceramic grade for machining grey cast iron.
It can be used for both finishing and roughing operations with higher cutting speeds, in smooth and slightly interrupted cuts. The needle-shaped grain structure offers very good mechanical properties of the substrate and the small grain size provides an excellent wear resistance. The main field of application of this new product line are the automotive industry and general mechanical engineering.
The KY1320 grade consists of precision-ground and finish-sintered versions of Kenloc and Kendex negative indexable inserts. In addition to the standard versions, customised solutions are available.
