Form tools support one-hit turning
1 min read
A new range of Schwanog form tools for drilling complex forms in one-hit is available from Floyd Automatic Tooling.
The new form tools are suited to the company's PWP drilling system, which supports interchangeability, reducing set-up and tooling costs drastically.
PWP holders are available in diameters from 10 to 25mm in 2mm increments, with an overall length equal to 4XD. Each toolholder can hold two insert sizes that are differentiated by insert width (cutting diameter), thickness and length. The inserts are also available in a selection of grades for determining the machining conditions for each hole/form and the applicability for relevant material types.
The numerous insert designs and grades have been developed to offer extended tool life and consistent machining that gives the end user confidence when producing large batch runs. The new system has an insert geometry that promotes the smooth flow of swarf when conducting large batch runs.
The German manufacturer is offering a complete catalogued range of form tools, as well as the possibility of producing form inserts to the customers exact specifications.
