Applitec has developed a new family of inserts combining the machinability benefits of X inserts with the 'chip rolling' capability of ISO inserts - the 700ZX geometry inserts, available from Floyd Automatic Tooling.
In bar turning, countersinking and turning operations with a single tool are routine, but, depending on the material, traditional X-geometry inserts are not always ideal for dealing with long and bulky swarf fragments. The 700ZX geometry solves the problem.
The new 700ZX Series is the fruit of a new insert production process that enables Applitec to create chip rollers on inserts of any shape or form. The new process that is applied to the new 700ZX Series enables Applitec to offer custom cutting inserts for these operations.
The 700ZX Series is well suited to the machining of difficult-to-machine materials and super alloys, while offering drastically improved tool life. The reinforced cutting edge and custom-made chip breakers on the 700ZX Series improves swarf management and reduce machine downtime, thus improving productivity.
The 700ZX range is available in the 740ZX and 760ZX designations, for clockwise rotation machines, and as 730ZX and 750ZX grades, for anticlockwise rotation machines. The corresponding toolholders are available in cross section sizes from 7 by 7mm to 20 by 20mm. The 760ZX Series also offers a rear turning facility that is equipped with this technology.
