DMG Mori introduces ‘brand’ new entry level CTX 450 ecoline with 3D control

The DMG Mori CTX 450 ecoline CNC turning centre, a first joint development by the merged DMG and Mori Seiki companies, is described as an entry level machine that nonetheless features 3D control. The 4.9 m² footprint, 600 mm Z-axis machine has 450 mm chuck size and a bar size optionally up to 75 mm.

DMG Mori CTX 450 is based on a FEM-optimised cast iron bed, large ballscrews and linear guideways for high rigidity that support accurate positioning and machining at spindle speeds up to 4,000 rpm. Rapid traverse is 30 m/min in all axes. The machine comes equipped with an automatic tailstock for accurate turning and milling of shaft-type parts. All 12-stations of the servo driven tool turret can be live for carrying out complex prismatic machining in-cycle in conjunction with the C-axis. The tool change time is 0.4 seconds. Control choice is SlimLine with Operate 4.5 on Siemens 840D solutionline, Heidenhain CNC Pilot 640, or MAPPS IV on Mitsubishi 3D. The CTX 450 ecoline can be fitted with the chip conveyor at the back rather than at the side to reduce the machine width and allow more flexible integration into the production area.
