DMG/Mori Seiki CTX beta 2000 has 600 by 2,000 mm capacity

DMG/Mori Seiki's CTX beta 2000 has a 600 mm diameter and 2,000 mm turning length capacity and is positioned between the smaller CTX beta 1250 and the large CTX gamma 2000.

The successor to the proven CTX 620 built in Graziano in Italy, the machine is of modular build, with production for the CTX beta 2000 scheduled for April 2013. Chuck sizes of up to 500 mm are available, while bar capacity of 93 mm (optionally 102 mm) enables machining of large diameter bar material. The ISM spindle motor offers 4,000 rpm and 770 Nm, while the ISM201Plus offers 2,200 Nm and spindle speeds up to 2,500 rpm. A 12-pocket VDI50 turret with an additional six block tool pockets is offered in the standard version, while a 16-pocket VDI40 turret is also available, as well as low-wear DirectDrive technology. Other features include sturdy roller guideways and rigid machine bed that ensure high long-term accuracy. A 45° angle bed optimises chip flow and enables good access to the work area. Features that contribute to the accuracy include linear scales in the X-axis and integrated liquid-cooled spindle motors. As a member of the extensive CTX family, the CTX beta 2000 benefits from a multitude of other equipment options. There are three different sized steady-rests, an NC-controlled tailstock offered as an alternative to the hydraulic tailstock of the standard version. In addition, Siemens 840D solutionline with ShopTurn 3G or Heidenhain Plus IT with TURN PLUS can be integrated in the DMG ERGOline Control with 19"-screen. In both cases, software features such as 3D simulation and programming aids make on-machine programming much easier. See related feature article here
