DMG Mori CTX 650 ecoline’s torque tackles heavy machining

The DMG Mori entry level CTX 650 ecoline, like its smaller chuck size brother, the CTX 450, boasts a choice of 3D controls as well as a build spec that includes a FEM-optimised cast iron bed, large ballscrews and wide linear guideways. The unit's 650 mm chuck size and optionally up to 110 mm bar capacity are aimed at heavy machining with a water-cooled spindle motor providing 2,000 Nm of torque. Rapid traverse in all axes is 30 m/min

The 9.8 m² footprint DMG Mori CTX 650 ecoline has 1,150 mm Z-axis travel. It is equipped with an automatic tailstock for accurate turning and milling of shaft-type parts and can be fitted with a steady rest to allow shafts up to 350 mm in diameter to be machined. Linear scales for direct measurement of axis positions are an option to improve positioning accuracy from 0.02?mm down to 0.008?mm. All 12-stations of the servo driven tool turret can be live for carrying out complex prismatic machining in-cycle in conjunction with the C-axis. VDI 50 holders are used. The choice of 3D controls offered is: SlimLine with Operate 4.5 on Siemens 840D solutionline; Heidenhain CNC Pilot 640, or MAPPS IV on Mitsubishi 3D
