Distributor Mills CNC confirms launch of two Doosan Puma GT2100 models

Mills CNC has confirmed the late autumn 2012 launch of Doosan's heavy duty, box guideway Puma GT2100 range of 65 mm chuck bar capacity CNC lathes.

The more sophisticated Puma GT2100 range supersedes Doosan's older Puma 240 machines. There are two models – the standard GT2100 and the GT2100M that has driven tooling capability (5.5 kW/5,000 rpm). Both machines are equipped with a powerful 4,500 rpm main spindle providing 18.5 kW power / 313 Nm torque, and have a 12-station servo-driven turret (0.15 sec indexing time), as well as rapid rates of 24 m/min on the machines' X axes and 30 m/min on the machines' Z axes. Maximum workpiece capacity is model-specific. Both machines offer 560 mm maximum length, with the GT2100 offering maximum machining diameter of 390 mm and the GT2100M 350 mm diameter. Specific advantages of the GT2100 range over the previous Puma 240-series include: a 24% smaller footprint; improved operator visibility and workpiece accessibility; and a re-designed and shorter spindle drive belt. The latter reduces noise, vibration and heat generation and supports improved part accuracy and more reliable and repeatable machining. Standard specification for the UK market includes: automatic tool setter; automatic parts catcher; automatic tow-along hydraulic tailstock; full turret toolholder package including four milling toolholders for the M model; Doosan-Fanuc CNC with 10.4-inch colour screen; Manual Guide i operator programming function and tool load monitor.
