Tornos Delta machines available soon

Tornos' new Delta machines will be available in September/October 2008.

The Delta range is the result of a agreement between the Swiss sliding-head specialist and Tsugami, a Japanese manufacturer of sliding-head machines. There are nine models, from 12 to 20mm diameter capacity with 3, 4 or 5 axes. “Despite the new agreement with Tsugami, the new Delta machines are ‘true Tornos machines’ that happen to be manufactured by Tsugami,” confirmed Alain Augsburger, Tornos Delta line product manager. “Essentially, we are working with Tsugami as a manufacturing partner to produce Tornos Delta machines on our behalf. The assembly lines in these factories will include beige machines [Tsugami] as well as machines made to the new design and sporting the colours of Tornos.” The new Tornos range of machines will be very easy to set and operate, says the company, while simplicity of access, good visibility, and ease of tool changing are all features that make the Delta range a “competitive and highly effective alternative to other products on the market”, it is further offered. Delta models can machine parts with or without a guide bush, and with the rising cost of materials this offers considerable savings in producing shorter type components without long bar end waste.
