Following a formal apprenticeship in tool-making and precision engineering, Sandy progressed to become a service and installation engineer in the CNC machine tool industry, covering multi-axis turning, milling and grinding machinery. A successful career in the sale of machine tools, with a particular interest in precision cylindrical and surface grinding machinery, followed.
