Nakamura AS-200 machine now in stock at ETG

The Nakamura AS-200 single- turret milling and turning centre is proving to be a highly popular choice, according to the Engineering Technology Group.

It was launched at EMO 2013 and is now available from stock though ETG. The AS-200's popularity is said to be down to its capability of being able to machine components from bar stock to completion without secondary operations, such as deburring, milling and drilling, as well as eliminating fixture re-positioning. It is compact too – Nakamura-Tome claims a smallest-in-class footprint of just 1,650 by 1,600 mm for the machine. The AS-200 is supplied as standard with a 65 mm capacity bar feeder and parts catcher. Two turret options are available – the 12/24- station with 12 driven tool places or the 15-station version, all with locations supporting driven tools. It comes with Nakamura-Fanuc CNC control, pre-loaded as standard with NT Work Navigator programme and co-ordinate recognition. Also standard is an airbag overload detection (to minimise machine damage in a collision due to error) and NT Nurse software. There are linear guide ways in Z and Y axes, and a box guideway on the X-axis. The driven tools are stepless direct belt driven and both the X and Z axes feature fast rapid traverses of 24 m/min and 36 m/min respectively.
