Market confidence boosts WNT (UK) turnover

WNT says a combination of restocking and renewed business confidence among its customers, along with the introduction of new products, has put it on course for a record breaking year, with turnover expected to top £13.5 million.

During 2008/09 WNT (UK) recorded its highest turnover to date, but with renewed confidence among its customer base of small to medium sized subcontract manufacturing companies 2010/11 is on track to exceed these figures. "In the early part of 2010 we witnessed an upturn in business and credited this with customers restocking consumable cutting tool items," says Tony Pennington, managing director, WNT (UK). "Since then, this trend has continued and strengthened and we fully expect August to show a turnover of £1.2 million. The continuing positive trend indicates that our customers are cutting more metal and the indications are that this will continue." At the heart of this continued sales growth is WNT's commitment to support its customers by improving its service levels, introducing extended and more convenient opening times, as well as continuing to introduce products that will deliver productivity gains and improved bottom line performance for its customers. Typical of these new products is the HCX1125 range of turning inserts. The success of these inserts has led to a dramatic sales growth, with HCX1125 now being WNT (UK)'s number one selling insert with turnover of this insert alone growing from zero to over £20,000 per month. "HCX1125 has been a major success story for WNT (UK) and our customers. Rather than delivering a gradual improvement in cutting performance HCX1125 is a major step change delivering exceptional tool life and cutting data. A situation recognised by our customers in the highly competitive world of sub-contract machining," commented Mr Pennington.
