KMF chosen to highlight Midlands manufacturing

KMF Precision Sheet Metal attended MACH 2010 at the invitation of The Manufacturing Advisory Service - West Midlands, Semta, Advantage West Midlands and UK Trade & Investment who hosted the Made in the Midlands Zone.

The invitation was made on the strength of a recent visit by representatives to KMF's Newcastle under Lyme manufacturing facility. They were impressed by the company's commitment to world class manufacturing standards, investment in people development and technology. KMF managing director, Gareth Higgins, said: "It is a credit to all of our employees that the delegation who visited our site recognised the effort that they are all making to our success." The company designs, manufactures, builds, integrates and tests products for customers, such as self service coffee bars, for Coffee Nation, that are a familiar sight across service areas and petrol stations in the UK. KMF takes total control of the production of these on behalf of Coffee Nation. Recently the company has witnessed a dramatic increase in business, driven in part by the decision to consolidate all of its manufacturing activities on one site. This, combined with an annual investment in new equipment of around £1 million per year, has resulted in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility that operates 24 hours, seven days per week. The company has 270 permanent staff including 16 apprentices in a £600,000 Training Centre, which was recently opened by Richard Noble, OBE. KMF's commitment to investment in people and equipment is proving to be a successful business strategy, with turnover of over £21 million expected this year.
