Hardinge Bridgeport 5-axis vertical machining centre at MACH 2010

1 min read

The GX 250 5AX vertical machining centre expands the 5AX CNC machining centre series, which includes the larger XR 300 machining centre and XR 600 machining centre, by providing a greater than normal working envelope for its base size.

The GX 250 5AX vertical machining centre can accept components up to 250 mm diameter by 240 mm long, with an optional high speed cutting capability of a 20,000 rpm spindle. The machining centre's linear X, Y and Z accuracy is within 7 microns, with repeatability of 4 microns, while accuracy levels achieved in the rotary table A-axis tilt, of + 30° to -120°, is 20 arc secs and 10 secs, in the 360° rotary C-axis. Axis strokes are 300 mm in X, 400 mm in Y and 430 mm in Z, over a 210 mm diameter rotary tilting table. Rapid traverse rates are 30 m/min through the working volume, on 35 mm roller type linear guideways. Heidenhain's latest iTNC 530 5-axis simultaneous control is standard, with the inclusion of dynamic collision monitoring, enabling the full working zone to be effectively utilised. Tools up to 80 mm diameter by 250 mm long, and weighing up to 6 kg, can be carried in the 20 position magazine with swing-arm change. Tool diameter can be increased to 95 mm when the adjacent pockets are left empty. Tool-to-tool time is less than 3 seconds. The machining centre will be displayed by Hardinge in Hall 5, on stand 5475, at MACH 2010. [Products covered: CNC machining centres, 5-axis machining centres]
