Gamet Bearings and Pratt Burnerd ‘at the heart’ of King Kong’s Kingston oil country lathes

600 Group companies Gamet Bearings and Pratt Bernerd supplied key components for Taiwanese company King Kong Iron Works' Kingston CG/CK and HG/HK heavy duty precision lathes. Launched at the Chicago IMTS show in September, these two 'oil country' lathes have through bores of 320 and 371 mm respectively.

The Gamet super precision taper roller bearings are fully interchangeable with previously used components but, says Gamet, offer superior rotational accuracy, high load capacity and stiffness. Gamet was also able to offer improved delivery times over King Kong's previous supplier – design to supply, with manufacture entirely at Gamet's Colchester plant, was within nine months. King Kong chairman Richard Chen commented: "The name Gamet is synonymous with quality and this has certainly been evidenced by improved performance of our large machines. I was also delighted to learn that we could procure special high quality large oil country chucks from Pratt Bernard. These 24-inch diameter, four-jaw independent chucks provided us with an ideal combination of precision and 320 mm through holes to suit our machines."
