Four companies have made announcements on recruitment within the past few weeks, comprising machine tool specialist Haas Automation, metrology expert Faro, cutting tool expert Horn and metrology firm Bowers.

Mark Broome (pictured) has joined the Haas Automation sales team and will be covering the West Midlands area. As a time-served engineer, he has over 15 years' experience and has recently completed the Haas induction programme. Nick Remington, Haas Automation managing director, said: "We already have in excess of 500 machines within a 50 mile radius of this area and we recognise the importance of keeping our current and prospective customers up to date with what new products and services Haas has to offer. "Last year Haas UK installed a further 500 machines nationally, bringing total UK installations to over 6,000. "We are continually investing large sums in our award winning back-up service and this is a key factor in driving our sales. "We currently employ 32 strategically located engineers who drive purpose-built Mercedes Vito vans with each one carrying £30,000 worth of common parts. "Furthermore, we are within a 2 hour travel radius of 95% of our customers and we usually fix a problem in one visit," the managing director adds. Faro UK has appointed Craig Scoffield to the position of sales engineer, where he will focus on post-sale customer relationships and training issues. Operating mainly at customers' own premises on user-specific applications, he will help to ensure that new customers are able to maximise the advanced capability of Faro products. Craig is a BEng Hon, qualified mechanical engineer, and as a previous enthusiastic user within the field of high precision engineering, he has gained considerable practical experience of Faro products across a wide range of applications in areas such as inspection and reverse engineering. At Horn Cutting Tools, Gary Wrycraft has been appointed sales engineer for the territory north of the Thames, bounded by the A1 to the west and The Wash to the north. In common with other members of Horn's UK sales force, Gary qualified after an engineering apprentice at the start of his career. He also brings extensive shopfloor and middle management experience to the role. Elsewhere, Bowers Metrology has appointed Guven Turemen as export sales manager. Guven brings with him extensive experience spanning over 10 years in the engineering industry, with a proven track record of developing market share and driving revenue in the overseas market.
