Accurate Cutting Services acquires Birkett Cutmaster

Redditch-based Accurate Cutting Services has acquired Cleckheaton-based Amada sawing machine specialist Birkett Cutmaster and is to merge the operations.

The move comes after 45 years of "part-collaboration and part-competition" and will create a sawing resource capable of providing the widest range of saws and blades to complement Accurate Cutting Services' existing extensive subcontract sawing service. The acquisition adds Amada sawing products to the current product stable that takes in Pedrazzoli machines, for lighter sawing needs, and Soitaab bandsaws, including multi-axis gantry saws, for large heavy requirements. Accurate Cutting Services says that the purchase brings "the unrivalled Amada quality production machines and blades to the mix" - Amada machines can cut faster, with blades that last longer, due to matched performance from a matched machine and blade designed by the same company. Added to the subcontract sawing, band and circular saw blade supply, blade sharpening services, plus saw repairs and service supported from two locations in the UK, the combination of the two companies is "set to become the UK's number one supplier of sawing solutions".
