Seco introduces Steadyline toolholders for oil and gas parts

Seco Tools has launched it Steadyline range of toolholders for use where long overhangs are required – often the case for large oil and gas parts. Steadyline toolholders feature a ‘dynamic-passive’ system that comprises a damping mass that helps absorb vibrations, even during extreme machining operations.

Results have shown that Steadyline tooling solutions, because they enable manufacturers to employ optimum cutting data, can reduce part cycle times by up to 50% in typical long overhang applications, says Seco. Other advantages that Steadyline is said to deliver include the creation of reliable and repeatable machining processes, reduced stresses on a machine tool's spindle and longer tool life.

Steadyline technology is available in Seco milling toolholders that include Shellmill, Combimaster and Shrinkfit. The Steadyline static range consists of turning and boring bars (6xD, 8xD, 10xD) that feature Seco's patented quick-change GL face and taper interface.
