Hypertherm SilverPlus is for plasma cutting at 80 A

Hypertherm is introducing a lower-amp SilverPlus electrode. This newly-developed electrode, for the company’s HyPerformance family of plasma cutting systems, is designed for cutting at 80 A.

Like all SilverPlus electrodes, the 80 A electrode is proven in Hypertherm laboratory testing to last more than twice as long as a standard copper electrode. Instead of replacing the electrode at a pit depth of 1 mm, as recommended with standard electrodes, SilverPlus electrodes are designed to last to a pit depth of 2 mm. In addition, the electrode is said to deliver a very consistent range four and five cut quality throughout its life.

The electrodes, protected by patent, are created by fusing a completely solid silver tip on to a copper electrode base. A hafnium pin is then inserted into the tip.

In addition to the 80 A electrode, Hypertherm also offers 130, 200, 260, and 400 A versions.
