Hypertherm SilverPlus electrodes suit plasma cutting at 400 A

Hypertherm SilverPlus electrodes for the company’s HyPerformance HPR400XD plasma cutting systems last 50% longer than standard copper electrodes in most cutting applications. Instead of replacing the electrode at a pit depth of 1 mm, as recommended with standard copper electrodes, SilverPlus electrodes are designed to last to a pit depth of at least 2 mm. In addition, the electrode is said to deliver a very consistent cut quality throughout its life, reducing operating cost.

SilverPlus electrodes are differentiated from other silver electrodes in the way they are manufactured: by fusing the silver tip to a copper blank using a patented process prior to electrode machining. In addition to the 400 A electrode introduced now, Hypertherm also offers 130, 200 and 260 A versions with similar performance benefits.
