Ajax Interactive bridges gap from mill to machining centre

The Ajax Interactive range of seven machines provides a CNC machining solution that is said to bridge a gap in the market between a standard toolroom milling machine and a higher specification machining centre.

Significant in the specification of the smallest Ajax Interactive 720, for example, is the incorporation of a heavily ribbed cast iron bed featuring hardened and ground solid boxways, and the added flexibility of a turret-style spindle head that has a 3.7 kW, 60 to 3,800 rpm motor and the ability to swing left and right through 90° each side of the centerline. All seven machines are calibrated using Renishaw XL80 laser and ballbar technology.

While the Ajax Interactive 720 has the smallest capacity in the series, table sizes are up to 3,300 by 700 mm, with X, Y and Z-axis travels of 3,000 by 800 by 650 mm. Prices start at less than £23,000.
