EOS M 100 DMLS system offers entry level functionality

Designed as an entry-level machine for DMLS (direct metal laser sintering) applications, EOS says that its M 100 is equivalent to the higher specification M 290 additive manufacturing, in terms of process and part quality.

With its small build volume, which is based on a round platform of 100 mm diameter, the system focuses on the cost-efficient production of small quantities. For example, it can produce approximately 70 dental crowns and bridges in three hours, says EOS.

The EOS M 100 is currently able process two types of materials, EOS CobaltChrome SP2 (CE-certified, CE 0537) and EOS StainlessSteel 316L. The next material to be made available will be EOS Titanium Ti64.

A 200 W fibre laser and a smaller laser spot is said to make it possible to produce highly complex and delicate components.
