WNT’s S-Cut offers powerful milling with soft cutting action

The newly-developed S-Cut SC-Uni patent-pending solid carbide milling cutter (3-25 mm diameter) from WNT offers an S-curve feature on the cutting edge and extremely irregular pitch for soft cutting and smooth running capabilities. These characteristics not only have a positive impact on tool life, but also improve the surface quality of the workpiece, says WNT.

With S-curve geometry, the helix angle becomes smaller until the inflection point is reached. From here onwards, the helix angle increases, resulting in improved cutting performance along with smoother cutting. In addition, S-Cut’s irregular pitch counteracts the induced vibrations caused by entry and exit frequencies when cutting. According to WNT, this results in a stable machining process with hardly any visible chatter marks. Furthermore, the spindle output of the milling machine can be fully exploited, along with higher depths of cut at large angles of engagement.

The S-Cut SC-Uni is designed for steel and stainless steel materials.
