WNT drills and reamers made in volume offer price competitive performance

WNT's extensive range of solid carbide drills has been enhanced with the addition of the WPC-VA range, suitable for drilling stainless steels, while it has also added multi-tooth reamers (MTR). Both benefit from its Mastertool Plusline high volume manufacturing approach that delivers price-competitive tooling.

As part of WNT's Mastertool Plusline series, manufactured in volume to keep prices low, they provide an "exceptional price to performance ratio". The TiALN-multilayer coated drills are available in 3x and 5x diameter-to-length ratios as standard, and from 2 mm (3 mm for 5x diameter) through to 20 mm diameter in 0.1 mm increments. In addition, all drills above 3 mm diameter can be supplied with through-coolant as standard. The volume production of the WPC-VA drills (pictured) also ensures security of stock with WNT offering its usual next day, before noon, delivery promise on any of the drills in its catalogue. "The WPC-VA drills are a perfect example of how our Mastertool Plusline strategy of using volume production creates price-competitive cutting tools in order to deliver performance-enhancing benefits to our customers," says Tony Pennington, managing director, WNT (UK). Having drilled the hole, WNT (UK) can now also provide the solution for finishing it, with the development of a range of multi tooth reamers (MTR). Supplied with carbide tips as standard, but also available with Cermet, CBN or PCD tips if required on certain size ranges, the MTR reamers offer high accuracy with the benefit of WNT's Mastertool manufacturing methods to allow, high performance reaming at minimal cost. High performance is achieved by virtue of the increased number of cutting edges. For example, a 12 mm diameter MTR reamer has 10 cutting edges, as opposed to a more typical six on other reaming tools. This allows feedrates to be increased by up to 66%. The increased number of teeth and feedrate also has a positive effect on the roundness and surface quality of the hole being produced and also extends the service life of the reamer. Sizes for the new MTR reamers range from 5.71 mm through to 40.25 mm, and customers can specify any diameter within that range, with carbide tipped reamers being delivered within 15 days of order.
